I've been having such a tough wardrobe time lately. I did a huge clothing clean out and now have two of those stand alone clothes racks full of clothes I intend to take to the Sunday markets and sell. Although cleaning out my cupboard is always a huge relief and I love seeing my racks a little less jam packed, it also leaves me struggling for outfit inspiration in the morning.
I told myself that for each item I sell I'm allowed to replace it with a new item, with the strict 'basics-are-better' philosophy. I'm in the process of changing up my style a bit, so the prospect of replacing a bunch of things in my wardrobe had me really excited.
I'm not much of a real-life shopper anymore; as in I pretty much only shop online, so I began patrol of my collection of bookmarked online stores, and after two days I still hadn't found a single item that I wanted to buy. I find it always happens like this; when I don't really want to buy anything but am just perusing online stores for fun I find so many items that I love, but when I'm looking for an outfit for a particular event or am specifically looking to buy some new things I'm always horribly disappointed.
After expanding my search to my less viewed sites I finally hit some gold. I told myself that after all this unsuccessful searching, and every morning waking up and having such a hard time choosing an outfit from my now rather sparse wardrobe, that if I found something I liked I should snap it up. This may have been bad advice to give myself because in the end it resulted in quite a bit of spending, but at least now when it all arrives I'll have a bunch of beautiful new items.
I was pretty strict with my basics-are-better rule and only choosing items that could be paired with a variety of things, some of which I already own. In the end I made purchases from MissGuided, Urban Outfitters and Princess Polly. When everything arrives I'll be making a haul video on my Youtube channel, hopefully with try-ons included.
Here are the items I got-

MOONLIGHT MINI DRESS - MINKPINK - FROM PRINCESS POLLY - $65
I have been absolutely loving ribbed things lately, as you'll be able to tell from my purchases. When I first saw this dress I really liked it; I liked the further apart navy stripes and the denim collar, but when I saw the close up photo and realised it was ribbed I was sold. A perfect basic, comfortable dress with ribbing and a denim collar to make it a little more interesting. I thought it was way over priced but I had wanted a new dress and hadn't found any I liked on any other site, so I snapped this one up.
MIDSLEEVE RIBBED TOP GREY - from missguided - $31.50
As well as ribbed material, I've also been loving roll necks and high necks, like this one. So to find a top with both of things, thats also a basic, and not buy it would have been blasphemy. I also love the length of the sleeves on this one.
MAILE LONG SLEEVE CROPPED MARL JERSEY TOP - from missguided - $16.80
This one is another good basic; it looks really comfortable and relaxed. I can see this being easy to pair with a lot of things. I also like how they've styled it with the sleeves rolled up.
LUBIANA BLACK A-LINE MINI SKIRT - missguided - $17.50
My favourite style of skirt is definitely A-line, but I don't have a basic black one in my wardrobe at the moment, so I thought I better snap this one up. I also thought the price of this was quite good.
LILY LUMBERJACK COAT BLACK CHECK - Missguided - $42
I fell in love with this coat when I first looked on Missguided, but thought there was no way I needed it enough to buy it for its price of $105. When I went back the next day it had been reduced to $42, so I quickly added it to my cart; it was a bit of a
"Start the car!!" moment. Looking online again it seems to have gone up to $52.50 now, so I'm not sure whats happened there, but I'm super happy with my bargain. I always get so cold in winter so I'm really excited to have a nice coat to wear when it gets chilly.
ACTIVE RACER BACK CONTRAST SPORTS BRA GREY - MISSGUIDED - $18.90
I've started jogging with my boyfriend over the past few months, but don't own a sports bra and have been desperate to buy one. Missguided have a really awesome
active wear section, but every time I go on their site all my
favourite sports bras are sold out in my size. I eventually settled for this one, which I still like; I love the marl fabric and the mint outline is really nice.
I absolutely love this bra. I was so so tempted to get it in black and white, but refrained and just got the white. I think the back straps will look so nice under tops where you can see them; they could be an added feature of any outfit. I love bralettes, and outfits that don't require a bra even more, so adding another bralette to my collection is always exciting. I thought it was a little overpriced, especially because Urban Outfitters is in USD online, which I forgot, so I was thinking it was $29 and then saw it was $37AUD later.
SILENCE + NOISE renee mock-neck top - urban outfitters - $43.50
Another ribbed high neck top, what a surprise! I think this one is so so nice though, I love the length of the sleeves and it'll be another great basic for winter. Again I thought it was overpriced, it said $34, which I was OK with, but then of course it was USD and turned out to be $43.50. I thought I had used Urban Outfitters online before and got it to show AUD, but apparently not because I can't work out how to do that again, unless they took the feature out but I doubt it because that would be stupid haha.
That marks the end of my wardrobe refill after cleaning it out.
I love coming into a new season and having to do a little wardrobe makeover. I'd love to hear about what season you're coming into, what trends you're loving and any new items you have/are hoping to add to your wardrobe!
