I haven't posted in a while, and even now this post isn't going to be fashion related. I'm trying super hard to save so I haven't really bought anything in a while; except some Ralph Lauren shorts that were reduced by $70 on ASOS, but they haven't arrived yet. It was my birthday last week so I got lots of clothes then, which I will get around to photographing after this semester of uni is over and exams are finished.
Anyway, I'm making this post because Jake and I made a cake yesterday and I'm so impressed with the turn out I thought I'd share! I didn't have a cake on my birthday and felt a bit depressed about it afterwards, thinking I didn't want to be too old to have a cake and blow out a candle. So Jake and I decided to make a rainbow layer cake that I've been wanting to make for what seems like ever. Here are some photos of the process and result! By the way, it was sooo delicious! It was a butter cake and the icing was like meringue.

I just bought this dress from Princess Polly as a pre-Bali present to myself. I wanted a casual dress that would be good for Uni and summer, I also wanted a dress that doesn't have a high neckline because most of my dresses do. I love the neck, the colour and the love heart cut out at the back is really cute. I was really reluctant to buy it because of the $70 price; I've been doing pretty well with my spending lately because my birthday is coming up so I've just been choosing presents. In the end I just bought it anyway because I think it'll come in really handy and be a perfect summer staple. Here's some photos from the site:

Mum came back from London yesterday so today we did the rest of the online shopping for my birthday gifts. We made three orders; one from Princess Polly, one from ASOS and one from Topshop. This is what we bought:
This is a Scalloped Cami in Blush from Princess Polly. The material looks really light and comfortable and its simple yet still has the prettiness of the scalloped edges.
This is a little crop in mint from Princess Polly. I think it's really pretty and will go well with shorts.
This is a little white button up top from Princess Polly; I think it'll be really easy to match with bottoms and is a really good length.
These shorts are from Topshop; I love the stripes, hopefully they aren't super short when I get them.
These shorts are also from Topshop; I think the drums are awesome, I've never seen anyone in them before so thats nice too.
These are floral flatform trainers from ASOS; I love the floral pattern and I'm really liking the flatform style at the moment.
So this post and the previous post shows all the things I'm getting for my birthday; I'm also getting Halo 4 but that'll be a late birthday present because it comes out on the 6th November. You may think its weird I'm getting an Xbox game but Jake and I play every weekend and I loove Halo. Jake and I are also have a joint birthday weekend down at my parents house in Geographe Bay. We're having 20 friends to stay for 5 days over the weekend and we're all going paintballing on the Saturday. I'm suuuper excited and hope I don't chicken out and hide too much during the game :P Overall I think this is going to be my best birthday yet! I'll be sure to post some photos after the weekend. Jake and I went down to the house this weekend for a uni assignment I had to do, so heres a photo of us while we were down there :)

So I've made a wish list for my birthday and my parents are starting to buy things from it! Tonight we did the Nasty Gal order because two of the things I wanted only had one left in my size so we had to act fast. I wanted to get some things from Nasty Gal especially, because they have a shipping fee and I never buy things from places with a shipping fee myself, so birthday presents are the perfect opportunity to get things from places that have them. Apparently the order will arrive in 2-4 weeks, just in time for my birthday :) This is what we bought tonight:
This top, which is called the 'Stella Crop Tee - Ivory'. I think it'll be a great staple for summer.
I love the colour of these shorts, which are called 'Veracruz Shorts - Mint'.
I think this 'Suede Skinny Belt - Black' will come in really handy as I don't have a simple skinny belt.
These shorts were reduced from $45.94 to $19.14 and look super comfy. They're called 'Sun Shower Shorts'.
I love the shape of these sunnies, and the colour is great as well. They are the 'Cool Cat Shades'.
I'll make another post now of what else is on my birthday list, but I probably won't be getting all of the things on the list.

Last week I
bought a pair of galaxy tights from eBay, I'm not really sure what I'll be able
to wear them with so yesterday I bought this black jumper that will hopefully work
well with them. I got the tights for $45 including postage and the jumper from
Princess Polly, reduced from $65, to $35. This weekend I'm getting Jake to help
me block all my favourite online shopping sites from my computer because I am
determined to save more money for travel. I bought the yesterday morning and got a confirmation email that said they would email be again once it had been shipped, Princess Polly claims to post your item the same day you order it, if you order before 3pm, I ordered the jumper at around 12.30pm but I still haven't received the email to say they've posted it. I'm thinking I'm going to receive an email soon saying they had another error and it was actually sold out, but fingers crossed that doesn't happen! Anyway, here's some photos of the jumper:

I made a purchase from Cotton On online recently and, after signing up for the first order, received a 30% off voucher, so of course I had to make another purchase! My first order consisted of a black blazer and a pair of loafers. I was in desperate need of a jacket that could be worn with dresses as I only really have a long cardigan which is pretty casual. To receive the free shipping I had to spend $50 so I also added the shoes to the order. This is the blazer, but in a different colour, as the black one is apparently all sold out now so I can't find the photo for it. I was going to get a second one of the blazer in this lavender colour, until I showed it to Jake and he said he really didn't like the colour. The black one would probably always be a preference anyway so I doubt I would have worn the lavender all that often. So, the black blazer was $39.95 and the shoes were reduced from $19.95 to $15.
For my next order I used the 30% off voucher, and have just realised that I totally forgot to write in the code for free shipping, but I may not even have been able to use two codes at once so it probably doesn't matter :P For this purchase I thought I would try and get my last purchases out to last me for the rest of winter and summer, so that I wouldn't have to shop any more and waste more money. (I doubt that reasoning will stick later...). So I bought two short sleeve tops with peter pan collars for summer and also a pair of flatform sandals because I've been wanting some for a while but hadn't found a cheap, nice pair yet. One of the tops is the same colour as the blazer I was going to get that Jake hated the colour of, but I really liked so I got it anyway :) The tops were $24.95 each and the shoes were $29.95.
I've got so much uni work due this week and I'm really, really stressing out. I allowed myself this post as a break from working but I'm really losing a lot of motivation. This week sucks. Anyway, as I say pretty much ever post lately, I shouldn't be buying anything else lately. If I get time I'll take some photos of some more of my favourite clothes from my closet, but no guarantees.
